Stephen Murdock, Principal

With over 30 years of relevant experience, Steve has held progressive positions in Market Research and Forecasting with Ipsen Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer (Warner-Lambert), and Novartis (Sandoz). More recently he was the Senior Director, Global Strategic Market insights for Takeda Oncology. As part of this role, he personally provided market insights and forecasting covering the in-licensing and launch of new products and evolved his department’s focus from a US-only to a global one.

Steve gained much of his qualitative research, moderating, and facilitating experience through countless projects in oncology, hematology, neurology, endocrinology, and other specialty areas. His qualitative research and interviewing expertise includes market understanding (e.g., opportunity assessment, strategic insights, landscape analysis, patient journey, influence mapping), promotional research (e.g., message testing, ad testing, materials development), and strategic research. Steve is equally comfortable obtaining insights from key opinion leaders, community practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, payers, patients, and caregivers.

As the past lead forecaster at Takeda Oncology and at Ipsen, Steve also is recognized for his forecast-related research, including assumption development, modeling and analysis, and combined qualitative/quantitative research methodologies. Steve has traveled to London, Paris, Singapore, and Beijing to present half-day and full-day forecasting workshops where he trained global colleagues in the art and science of forecasting. He has been an expert witness and has led forecasting workshops for CBI and the Pharmaceutical Business Intelligence and Research Group (PBIRG), a predecessor of Intellus, where he was past President.

While pursuing a BSc degree in Chemistry, Steve worked in the laboratory of Nobel Laureate Dr. Richard Heck. Afterwards, he obtained an M.B.A. degree with concentration in Market Research and Operations Management from Drexel’s LeBow College. Steve is a past president of the Pharmaceutical Business Intelligence and Research Group (PBIRG), which is a predecessor of Intellus.
